Capcom Relaunches Street Fighter As Two-Player Battle Royale
Lovers of the ‘battle royale’ genre are in for a treat later this year as Capcom announces the “first ever two person battle royale game”, which they are calling Street Fighter.
In this interesting new twist on the genre, two players will be ‘parachuted’ into an alleyway, a boulevard, or possibly onto an aircraft carrier, where they will all fight to the death until only one is left standing.
Anyone who is familiar with battle royale games like PUBG or Fortnite will enjoy the frantic, close quarters action of this new game, where the small play area forces everybody in the arena to immediately engage in brutal fighting.
Speaking to Point & Clickbait, Capcom said that it “took considerable effort” to turn Street Fighter into a battle royale game, but that they believed it would pay off.
“We thought we’d dust off an old IP we had lying around and dress it up for a new generation of gamers,” commented a Capcom spokesperson.
“There is a lot of value in the Street Fighter brand, and we think that by positioning this new title as the return of a beloved old game in an exciting new form, we can capture the best of both worlds.”
