Assassins Creed Origins Ultimate Edition Will Be Bundled With “Terrible, Ancient Curse”
Now that’s what I call viral marketing! Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Origins, the upcoming Egyptian-themed title which is set to be revealed at E3 2017, will expose players to the “terrible, ancient curse of Khnumhotep The Undying”.
Along with an exclusive statue, exclusive costumes, exclusive missions and two days of early access, players who purchase the Ultimate Edition will be given a shard of Khnumhotep’s canoptic jar. Touching the jar will immediately “mark the player for death at the hands of Khnumhotep The Undying, who will hunt them down, tireless in his thirst for vengeance”. Wow!
The Ultimate Edition of Assassin’s Creed Origins is now up for pre-order at local Gamestops and selling fast, despite clear warnings of “a fate most dire to all who disrespect the resting place of Khnumhotep The Undying”. But with that exclusive costume bundled in the box, is it any wonder that gamers are risking the skeletal wrath of a dangerous revenant from beyond the grave?
I guess we’re about to find out once and for all who is more dedicated — some ancient lich king, or an Assassin’s Creed fan! Sorry Khnumhotep old boy, but I think you might have met your match!
Ubisoft have confirmed that other editions will also be available for players who have no desire to be “enslaved to Khnumhotep’s deathless army”, but as it only comes with one exclusive mission rather than three, it’s up to you to decide how much you want to show your love for the Assassins.
“The PC Ultimate Edition does not come with a deathless curse of an ancient warlord, but it does force you to install and use Uplay, which is basically the same,” confirmed an Ubisoft representative in a statement.
