Heartwarming: This Man Always Dreamed Of Working For Nintendo, Then He Was Eaten By Reggie Fils-Aime
All the way back in 2007, a young American high-school student by the name of Corey Bunnell dreamed of one day working for his favourite game developer, Nintendo.
Unlike so many who abandon their childhood dreams, Corey wouldn’t let anything stop him — moving to Japan, learning the language, studying programming, and in a beautiful, heartwarming twist, being attacked and torn into fleshy pieces by Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime, who scooped ragged chunks of Corey-meat into his mouth with bloody, trembling hands.
Corey’s feel-good story first came to light when a redditor noticed that the credits for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild contained something no-one was expecting: a single non-Japanese name, which stood out like a sore thumb.
A quick bit of sleuthing turned up a forum post from a young, hopeful Corey in 2007, where he asked his friends for advice on moving to Japan and landing a job at Nintendo. Further searching also revealed a follow-up post from his worried parents in 2012, asking if any of his friends had heard from him and why his last letter was a blood-stained, ominous note simply reading “the big man licks his teeth when he watches me”. Inspirational stuff.
The gaming industry is sometimes so negative, and it can really get you down. It’s so nice to be able to report a lovely story for once — if any game development students out there are reading this, you really can achieve your dreams and end up inside Nintendo’s President! Don’t give up!
