Everything We Know About Destiny 2, As Extrapolated From One Single Image
Bungie has posted a single JPEG file confirming the existence of Destiny 2, and here you are at our website so we’d better think of something fast! Here’s what we know:
The Number 2 Is Very Visible
Right there at the back, behind the word ‘Destiny’, is the number ‘2’. This indicates that the game Destiny will soon be receiving a sequel, which we’re tentatively calling ‘Destiny 2’. Bungie and Activision previously released a game called Destiny in 2014, so this seems like a reasonable guess. Okay, that’s one down!
No Platforms Are Mentioned, So It Could Be On Any Of Them
We’ve been poring over this image for the last few hours and can absolutely confirm there is no arrangement of pixels which spells out any words relating to platforms. Accordingly, we think it’s safe to say that Destiny 2 could very well be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, NeoGeo, Virtual Boy and the N-GAGE. If we’re wrong, well, that’s just how it is. Cool, cool. We’re doing alright! We can do this!
The Number 2 Appears To Be In Helvetica Font
Yes, there’s some evidence to suggest that the large number ‘2’ in the background has been rendered in that classic font, Helvetica. We opened up Microsoft Word and typed a ‘2’ at size 72 and the resemblance is pretty solid. Alright! Reaching a little here but still good.
Something Is Happening To The Large Sphere
Iconic Destiny character The Large Sphere appears to be in some sort of trouble, burning and such. Flames all over it. It wouldn’t surprise us at all if Large Sphere featured heavily in Destiny 2, probably, again, in a state of distress. Classic Large Sphere. Okay. What else have we got.
Destiny 2 is almost certainly a 2048 x 1152 JPEG file
If there’s anything more to the game than a 180KB JPEG rendered at 96 dpi with a bit-depth of 24, then we don’t know what it is. Certainly there’s no evidence to suggest otherwise at this time, and we’re confident making the call. Destiny 2 as a single JPEG with no other details — absolutely confirmed.
